My Experience
27+ years of hands-on dog behavior training experience
But I didn’t start in dog training. I built this from the ground up—working in every layer of the industry.
I began in a veterinary setting, working front office and then as a vet tech, where I developed a foundational understanding of canine health, behavior, and client communication.
From there, I moved into hands-on roles inside a dog daycare, resort, and salon environment—managing groups of dogs, observing behavior in social settings, and understanding how environment shapes outcomes.
I then worked as a professional dog walker, where I started seeing behavior patterns play out in the real world—on walks, in neighborhoods, and in everyday life.
That’s when I transitioned fully into dog behavior work.
Over the years, I’ve apprenticed under multiple master trainers, gaining exposure to a wide range of methodologies, philosophies, and real-world applications. I spent seven years working with police canine programs and contracts, developing a deeper understanding of structure, control, and high-level working dogs.
Beyond training, I’ve built and sold a bed bug detection company using working dogs, and I’ve worked in specialized environments including sled dog operations—giving me experience across both behavioral and working dog disciplines.
I also attended the American College of Applied Science early in my career, which helped shape my technical foundation.
In addition to hands-on work, I serve as an expert witness in dog behavior and dog bite cases—consulting with attorneys, insurance companies, and courts. This work requires a deep understanding of behavior, liability, and real-world outcomes, and it reinforces a critical truth:
This isn’t about obedience.
This is about behavior.
I’ve also consulted with numerous boarding facilities throughout Northern California and was one of the early contributors to structured rest and “nap schedule” systems that many facilities still use today.
I’ve worked closely with rescues, helping rehabilitate dogs with more complex behavioral issues, and I’m referred by over 40 veterinarians throughout Northern California—along with groomers, rescues, and facilities both nationally and internationally.

All of this experience led to one clear conclusion:
Dog behavior isn’t solved through commands alone.
It’s solved by understanding the dog, the human, and the environment together.
And that’s what everything I do is built on.
