Lunatic on the leash

My dog was a complete lunatic on leash before we worked with Blair. We live on Oahu and were having trouble finding an experienced dog trainer. I was about 7 months pregnant and at my whits end with our golden/shepard mix Lucy. Every time we passed another dog on walks she would go ballistic, snarling and barking. It was embarrassing and frustrating and it really limited taking her with us places. I knew I wouldn’t be able to control her and handle a baby on walks safely. I met with Blair over Skype, he explained to me and showed me how to train Lucy to respond to her e-collar and how I could better communicate with her. My body language and tone were all wrong before and it confused Lucy. Once Lucy understood that what it meant and what to do when she felt her e-collar go off the rest of her training came pretty easy because now I could clearly communicate with her. I was worried she would hate me, hate the e-collar but it was the exact opposite, she is excited when I get it out and we have an even stronger bond now. We work as a team out on walks. Blair’s instruction on how to properly use an e-collor makes it a positive and useful training tool.

We followed Blairs week by week training plan and instructions and now I have a dog that is fully off leash trained, we rarely use a leash on walks. Lucy gets to explore and have fun and she always looks to me for guidance anytime she is nervous, like if another dog is coming by. I am so grateful Blair was able to meet with us over Skype and get Lucy trained before our baby came! Now I can take Lucy to the beach, out hiking, to dog friendly restaurants, this training has improved her quality of life immensely. I even took her to get pictures taken with Santa and our infant son on pet night, there is no way I could have done that before this training. Blair was easy and fun to work with, he is great at explaining stuff and answering questions and he was available by phone if I had any hiccups in training or questions. I highly recommend him for dog training, it was amazing what he was able to do us even through he never saw Lucy in person.
