Training elsewhere wasn’t working

We have had an excellent experience working with Blair on a training “reset” with our dogs using his online/video visit program. He has an immense amount of experience and knowledge about dog behavior and effective communication and teaching with dogs. The key point is that he is able to teach these principles and concepts in a clear, actionable way. Our two large rescue dogs had both already undergone some training elsewhere but our communication wasn’t working very well with them and there were problematic behaviors that were persisting including escalating aggression that could just not continue.

We did not know what to do next and luckily found Blair when we were looking for local trainers in our area. We ended up doing the online/video meeting program as this pushed us to be doing the work ourselves, with our dogs, in our own environment, which is really what we needed most. Both dogs had been trained with e-collars before and basic obedience. But my husband and I needed to also be be trained and we needed the structure of the scheduled program to know exactly the steps to change the way we communicated with our dogs and re establish leadership in our house. Our dogs learned what behaviors are acceptable and which are not- no gray areas. There behavior has improved immensely at baseline but we also have the tools to address any new problems that come up and help the dogs know very clearly that a behavior is unacceptable and ultimately respect that boundary. It takes discipline and consistency, but we had all the tools and as many meetings and check ins with Blair as necessary to troubleshoot.

What is great is that we have the program now so if and when we need to, we can go back to any of the steps/stages and get them (us more than them in reality) – back on track.
